Bloody Mary 2025 Movie Review

Their lives unravel when Mary accidentally kills a doctor who assaults her, while Basha witnesses a murder committed by a corrupt cop, Prabhakar (Ajay), which Raju unknowingly records. The trio’s attempt to blackmail Prabhakar leads to a cat-and-mouse game involving a local gangster, Sekhar Babu (Brahmaji).

Nivetha Pethuraj’s performance is a standout, with critics praising her transformation from vulnerable to cunning, carrying the film despite inconsistent writing. Ajay and Brahmaji deliver solid supporting roles, with Ajay’s menacing cop being particularly effective early on. The cinematography by Karthik Ghattamneni is lauded for its moody, atmospheric visuals, and Kaala Bhairava’s score adds tension. The short runtime (91 minutes) keeps the pacing brisk, making it a decent one-time watch for thriller fans.

The screenplay, penned by Prasanth Kumar Dimmala, is a weak link, criticized for lacking depth and relying on convenient coincidences. The narrative starts strong but loses steam, with a rushed climax and an unconvincing setup for a sequel (“The Rise of Bloody Mary”) that feels forced. Characterization is uneven—Mary’s shifts between timid and overconfident feel jarring, and supporting characters like Basha and Raju lack depth. Some reviews call the plot illogical and the investigation superficial, undermining the thriller elements.
